Demian Rugna
He is a director and screenwriter specializing in fantasy and horror cinema. At eight years of age, he began creating his own comic strips recreating his favorite movies. In 2007, he directed his first feature film, based on one of his short films of the same name, "The Last Gateway. Chosen as one of the 10 best horror films of 2007 by the site buried.com (abre en nueva pestaña)) In 2008, he wrote the original screenplay for "They Want my Eyes". His second film as a director was "Malditos Sean!", co-written and co-directed with Fabián Forte; it was released commercially in national theaters in 2013. Then came a series of short films including "El Mate Amargo", winner of several awards and chosen as one of the 3 best shorts of the year at the INCAA Short Film Night, and "El Balerazo", both black comedies with fantasy overtones. His third feature film: "No sabés con quien estás hablando" is a black comedy that parodies fantasy cinema and behind-the-scenes TV.
In 2017, he released his fourth film: "Aterrados", based on one of his first short films called "Tiene Miedo". In 2019, he developed the remake of his own film "Aterrados" produced by Guillermo Del Toro for Searchlight Pictures, a project that had to be postponed due to the pandemic. In 2022, Rugna participated in the project "Satanic Hispanics", a horror anthology by several Latin American directors, with his story called "También lo vi", while simultaneously filming his 5th feature film titled "Cuando acecha la Maldad" (Winner of the Best Picture award at the Sitges Film Festival and chosen as the best horror film of the year by the site Rotten Tomatoes).
