Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza wrote and directed this multi-award-winning film at the Sitges Festival in 2007, combining the found footage technique to narrate one of the most dynamic and tense episodes of the zombie apocalypse.
REC is one of the main players in the resurgence of this subgenre, both for its use of first-person camera work and for the way it portrays the viral infection; combined, they result in a spectacle whose ending gives the story an unexpected twist. Everyone around begins to get infected, and their eyes hold nothing but rage. Terror begins to spread.
A must-see for lovers of viruses, apocalyptic settings, furious infected, and shaky footage.
