#TurismoMacabro: La Casa Negra

Today our tour through the dark territories of Mexico City takes us once again to Colonia Roma, specifically to 191 Álvaro Obregón, where "La Casa Negra" is located.

Many, many years ago, Colonia Roma was a neighborhood of people with good economic means; no one knows for certain what happened at this location. They say it was the home of the Mondragón family, but one day, the parents and their three children were found dead (which reminds me a bit of the famous Amityville house). With no close relatives left alive, the property became government-owned.

La Casa Negra is considered one of the most haunted places in Mexico City, a perfect spot for homeless people to spend the night — however, no one has managed to spend even a couple of hours inside the building.

The façade is already badly damaged by the passage of time and graffiti, and outside there are many food stalls that partly hide this famous Casa Negra.

People who live nearby or eat at the nearby food stalls say that after 10 p.m., the temperature drops drastically, the atmosphere turns heavy, very loud noises can be heard, doors open and close on their own, voices and screams can be heard, and if you're lucky, you might feel hands pushing you toward the exit.

Although it isn't a tourist spot, you can visit it from the outside and keep your ears open for a couple of hours — with luck, you might see or hear something out of the ordinary.
