10 horror premieres for 2019

Happy macabre new year! While we're just getting 2019 underway, we already have a list of upcoming horror film premieres, including the Mexican film Belzebuth, which will finally see the light of day after four years of production, and the remake of Suspiria, which, although it premiered last year, will hit the big screen in Mexico. Both open on Friday, January 11. Later in the year, we'll get to see the second part of Zombieland as well as It; the franchise installments from the creators of The Conjuring with the third installment of Anabelle and The Curse of La Llorona. Among the most anticipated releases, we'll have Greta, a film by Neil Jordan starring Isabell Huppert, as well as the new film by Jordan Peele, US.

BELZEBUTH

Synopsis: While investigating a series of murders on the Mexico–U.S. border, agent Emmanuel Ritter (Joaquín Cosío) discovers that the case appears to be linked to the arrival of the ancient demon BELZEBUTH. To stop this cruelty, Ritter will have to confront himself before facing the forces of good and evil.

SUSPIRIA

Synopsis: Young dancer Susie Bannion arrives in Berlin to audition for the world-famous Helena Markos Dance Company, surprising the company's famous choreographer, Madame Blanc, with her original talent. Olga, the former principal dancer, accuses the company's directors of being witches. As rehearsals intensify, Susie and Madame Blanc grow strangely close, suggesting that Susie's purpose within the company runs deeper. Meanwhile, a psychotherapist, with the help of another dancer, tries to uncover the dark secrets hidden in the studio's concealed basements, where horrible secrets lie in wait.

THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA

Synopsis: A group of teenagers must solve the mystery surrounding a series of sudden, macabre deaths taking place in their town.

GRETA

Synopsis: Frances (Moretz), a sweet and naive young woman trying to make her way in New York City, doesn't think twice before returning a handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That's Greta (Huppert), a rather eccentric and solitary French piano teacher who loves classical music. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows close to Greta, a longtime widow. The two become fast friends, but Greta's maternal charms begin to unravel and grow ever more terrifying as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta's life is what it seems.
