Estudios Churubusco and Macabro Announce the "Churubusco Macabro" Award

Estudios Churubusco and Macabro: Mexico City International Horror Film Festival announce the creation of the “Churubusco Macabro” Award, which will award the post-production of a promotional teaser to a Mexican project in development. The winner will be selected from among the national projects participating in the open call for FANTASTIKA, the Ibero-American Horror and Fantasy Film Co-production Forum, of which Macabro FICH serves as co-organizer and representative in Mexico.

The award winner will be announced during the activities of FANTASTIKA, as part of the 58th edition of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, in October.

FANTASTIKA is the new brand and evolution of the Co-production Forum co-organized by the PAC (Spain) and APIMA (Argentina) associations since 2021, a gathering created by and for independent production companies with the goal of building a network to share experience and knowledge, showcase projects, and generate Ibero-American horror and fantasy co-productions.

The Estudios Churubuscos is a legendary company that offers audiovisual production services. It is recognized everywhere films are made. Together with Cinecittà, Pinewood, Mosfilm, Babelsberg, and Hollywood, it is one of the magical places where dreams become reality, and this year we celebrate its 80th anniversary with them.

Macabro, is the pioneering horror and fantasy film festival in Mexico and one of the most important and prestigious in the world. Conceived as a showcase for contemporary horror cinema and the rescue and reappraisal of classic and cult film, the festival has put down deep roots and has brought together different audiences around the genre and its many forms of expression. With 24 years of continuous operation, it has become an icon of Mexico City's cultural life.
