#ExpedientesMacabros: TIMOTHY JAMES CURRY. CASE 1946. “TIM CURRY AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE VILLAINS OF CINEMA”.

By Casandra Vicario
Today, April 19, is Tim Curry's birthday, actor, comedian, singer, and voice actor of British origin, famous in horror cinema for his role in the television series “It”, in 1986, in which he masterfully played the clown “Pennywise”.

A theater student at the University of Birmingham, he currently lives in California. In his career, his dedication to musical theater earned him 3 Tony Award nominations, one in 1981 for his work in the play “Amadeus”, another in 1993 for “My Favorite Year” and in 2005 for “Spamalot”.
In the world of film, he left a mark on many of our lives by playing the famous doctor Frank N Furter in the film version of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” in 1975.
In 1985, his body was dyed red and he grew large horns to play “Darkness” (a very evil devil) in the film “Legend” alongside a young Tom Cruise.
Without a doubt, fame, and a sacred place among cinema's great monsters, would come to Tim Curry in 1986, when “Pennywise” took possession of his body and filled the lives of young people and adults with nightmares, marking an entire generation in “It”.
Other appearances by Tim Curry in the world of horror cinema include films such as, “Congo”, “Scary Movie 2”, “Addams Family Reunion”, “Tales From The Crypt Presents: Ritual”, “Wolf Girl”, “Ginger Clown 3D” and some other collaborations in less terrifying films such as “Home Alone 2”, “The Shadow” and “Three Musketeers”.
Special mention goes to his return to “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, in a new 2016 version, in which he appears as narrator. And his recent appearance in the documentary “Pennywise. The Story of It”, which tells us about the filming of the 1986 television version of the Stephen King classic.

At some point in his life, he had a band and recorded 3 albums, “Read my Lips” from 1978, “Fearless” in 1979 and “Simplicity” in 1981.
He was Tim Burton's second choice to play the Joker in his version of “Batman” in 1989, and once, in an interview, he mentioned that his favorite horror film is “Don't Look Now” or “Venecia Rojo Shoking” by director Nicolas Roeg.
Also, when Roger Waters performed “The Wall” in Germany after the fall of the wall, Tim Curry took part in the concert, giving voice and movement to “The Prosecutor” (the judge)
Unfortunately, in 2012, he suffered a severe cardiovascular event that left him in a wheelchair, but he still works and makes special appearances.
Thank you, Tim Curry, for sharing your talent with us and for filling our dreams with terrifying nightmares. Happy Birthday!
