JUSTING LONG AND FANTASY AND HORROR CINEMA

JUSTING LONG AND FANTASY AND HORROR CINEMA

By: Casandra Vicario

Recently I realized that Justing Long has appeared repeatedly in several fantasy and horror films, and this month was also his birthday, so I thought… why not pay a macabre tribute to his career?

Justing Jacob Long was born on June 2, 1978, is 41 years old, doesn't look his age, and hails from Fairfield, Connecticut, U.S.A.

One of his first works in horror came in 2001, under the direction of Víctor Salva, in a masterpiece “Jeepers Creepers”, better known in our country as “El Demonio”. Do you remember it? (It's on TV all the time)

In this film, Justin plays Dary Jenner, a biology student on a road trip with his sister when they begin to be stalked by a mysterious driver.

The film's title is based on the song of the same name, used in a musical comedy called “Going Places,” which actually plays an important role in the film. As a fun fact: there is no opening credits sequence.

In 2009, Justing Long joins the cast of the film “After life” or “Después de la Vida” sharing credits with Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci.

After a car accident, Anna wakes up on the table of a funeral home, and the mortician (who apparently has the ability to speak with the dead) tells her that she has ceased to exist on the earthly plane.

In this film, Justing Long plays Paul Coleman, the protagonist's boyfriend, who suspects that something isn't right about the events surrounding his girlfriend's death.

The second of the most important roles by Justing Lung in horror cinema is the one he did under the direction of Sam Raimi in “Drag me To Hell” or “Arrástrame al Infierno”, playing Clay Dalton.

After refusing to help her at the bank where she works, Christine is cursed by Mrs. Ganush, turning her life into hell. Her boyfriend (Justin Long), a teacher, is skeptical, so she looks for help elsewhere to break the curse.

A strange, very bizarre, dark, and little-known film is “Tusk” (2014), directed by Kevin Smith, in which Justing Long is the lead, playing Wallace Bryton.

Tusk is about a popular podcaster whom circumstances lead to Canada, where he knocks on the door of Howard Howe, a character with a strange fixation on walruses — poor Howard has no idea what's coming.

It's very similar to “The Human Centipede,” so if you like this kind of movie, this one is a must; Johnny Deep also appears (though he's not easy to recognize).

Also by Kevin Smith is “Yoga Hosers”, from 2016, another super strange film in which Johnny Deep appears once again, this time alongside his daughter Lilly Rose (one of the leads), and in which Justing Long, plays yoga instructor Yogui Bayer.

What is “Yoga Hosers” about? Two yoga fanatics face off against an army of evil Nazi sausages that stand in the way of planning the perfect party — yes, you read that right… evil Nazi sausages.

The most recent work by Justing Long, in the fantasy genre, is his appearance in “Ghost Team,” also from 2016, in which he plays Ross. This film revolves around a young man obsessed with the paranormal who recruits his own team of investigators.

What do you think? Justing Long has given us more than we imagined within fantasy and horror cinema. We hope he gives us many more. How many of these films have you seen?

Thanks, Justin Long, for so much horror.
