#News: Edith González passes away, we remember her time in genre cinema

This morning we woke up to the unfortunate news of the death of Mexican actress Edith González, due to a battle with cancer that she had been fighting for several years. The actress, originally from the city of Monterrey, became a television icon thanks to her work in soap operas for the Televisa company; however, she also worked in theater and film. In theater, she stood out for her role in the play "Aventurera," a theater-cabaret adaptation of the film of the same name directed by Alberto Gout in 1949 and starring Ninón Sevilla.
In film, she appeared in movies such as "Adiós Lagunilla, adiós" (1984), "Salón México" (1996), the short film "Rogelio" (2000) directed by Guillermo Arriaga, "Poquita ropa" (2010), and "Deseo" (2013), among her most notable work.

She also appeared in horror films, suspense, and even Mad Mex, with films such as "Trampa Infernal" (1984) by Pedro Galindo III, a slasher in which she shares credits with Pedro Fernández; "El descuartizador" (1991) by René Cardona III, a serial-killer film (full review by Revista Cinefagia here: https://www.revistacinefagia.com/2005/11/del-cine-mexicano-y-los-asesinos-seriales/ (abre en nueva pestaña) ); Atrapados (1992) by Valentín Trujillo and Cómplices del infierno (1994) by Fernando Pérez Gavilán, a thriller in which she shares credits with Maribel Guardia.

At Macabro, we also remember her for her virtually unknown cameo in the cult film "Alucarda" (1978) early in her career.
Rest in peace.
