Mexico City, June 2025.- As has become tradition, MACABRO, the Mexico City International Horror Film Festival, unveils the poster for its XXIV edition. This year, the festival invites audiences to step into a world of dark, unsettling hallways, spine-chilling rooms, and creatures from beyond the grave: welcome to Hotel Macabro.

HOTEL MACABRO

Hotels have been iconic settings for cinematic horror. From the mounting madness in The Shining to the dementia of American Horror Story; from the isolated, sinister Bates Motel of Psycho to the bloody Hostel by Eli Roth, these seemingly safe spaces harbor some of the genre's most memorable nightmares.

This year, Macabro presents its image based on the Hotel Macabro concept. Each of its rooms holds the most unexpected characters, who will receive well-deserved tributes—the most glamorous, the most elegant, the most terrifying, and the bloodiest.

This edition's poster is the work of the talented design team made up of Diego Álvarez and Roxana Ruíz, who have brought the festival's image to life for nearly nineteen years. The illustration stands out for its palette of black, pink, blue, and yellow, which stylishly frames the festival's arrival at its 24 years of existence.

And yes: pink has never been so Macabro.

MACABRO, the Mexico City International Horror Film Festival, will take place from August 19 to 31 of this year at various venues throughout the Mexican capital, bringing the best of genre cinema to fans. It will also feature a series of activities, presentations, gatherings, and talks for the general public.
