MACABRO and CEDECINE forge an alliance

• A new alliance is born between Macabro FICH and CEDECINE.
• Dario Argento's Deep Red will be screened across the film club network.

Macabro FICH and CEDECINE forge an alliance for the screening of Deep Red, the Dario Argento classic, as the first activity in a collaboration aimed at bringing independent, classic, and cult horror cinema to other audiences across the country. Activities will begin this June.

Macabro FICH screened Deep Red for six weeks at the Cineteca Nacional, and starting June 14 it will screen at the Julio Bracho and Cinematógrafo del Chopo theaters of the UNAM Film Library, as well as the Film Club Café in the State of Mexico and the Cinemateca Luis Buñuel in Puebla in July.

Macabro has forged alliances with national and international distributors, producers, and directors to screen films throughout the country in alternative venues such as film archives, independent cinemas, and film clubs.

About CEDECINE

The Comunidad de Exhibición Cinematográfica, Cedecine, founded in 2018, brings together the alternative exhibition guild across the 32 states of the Republic; it currently comprises more than 200 exhibition projects, including film clubs, traveling exhibitors, festivals, independent theaters, and other forms of alternative exhibition in our country.

Since its founding, Cedecine has promoted alliances among different sectors and players in the Mexican film industry, and now partners with the renowned Macabro FICH, an essential benchmark for genre cinema in our country practically since the start of the 21st century. The partnership with Macabro aims to diversify the offerings that alternative exhibition spaces provide to their audiences in our country. In doing so, we continue to fulfill our mission of approaching the cinematic phenomenon from the audience's perspective—from their right to education, to being informed, and to access to culture.

About Macabro FICH

Macabro is the first and most experienced genre film festival in Mexico. It was created as a screening space for contemporary horror cinema, as well as for the rescue and reappraisal of classic and cult cinema. Based in Mexico City since its founding in 2002, it has put down deep roots and has helped build audiences for the genre and its various expressions.

Over 21 years, it has become established as one of the most respected festivals on the circuit in Mexico and Latin America. Over thirteen days each summer in the capital, Macabro takes over the city with a celebration of horror cinema that brings together specialized and cinephile audiences, media outlets, the film community, Q&A sessions with guests, master classes, workshops, music, retrospectives, tributes, parties, music, and tourism promotion. Macabro reaches an audience of 35,000 people at its venues and approximately one million through social media broadcasts.

In August 2023 it will celebrate its twenty-second edition.
