THE MACABRO FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS ALLIANCE WITH PURGA

- Macabro and Purga join forces to offer the best genre cinema through a streaming platform.
- Purga's launch will take place during Macabro, which will run from August 16 to 27, 2017.
Mexico City, July 17, 2017. Macabro FICH (International Horror Film Festival) arrives at its 16th edition hand in hand with Purga in a major alliance that will bring horror fans closer to the best in cinema from every corner of the world.
Purga is the first video-on-demand platform in Latin America dedicated to horror fans. It will launch in August during the celebration of the Macabro Festival.
Purga was created for horror fans, and its content has been carefully chosen by experts who are also horror fans, including Macabro's programming team led by Edna Campos.
Its content initially consists of horror films and short films and their subgenres. Purga's main goal is to become, together with the community, the largest platform dedicated to the horror genre.
Available throughout Latin America except Brazil, its website is purga.tv (abre en nueva pestaña) to access from a computer, plus apps for tablets, smartphones, and soon smart TVs.
Purga
This project was launched with the intention of taking part in the major shift underway in how audiovisual entertainment is consumed, as content is increasingly tailored to each viewer's specific tastes. Purga strives to offer the content that audiences and loyal, devoted horror fans deserve, since Purga knows that this is an audience with very high cinema consumption and very demanding tastes. To meet that demand, at Purga we have brought together a highly professional team in the content market and set to work in service of horror fans. Together with Macabro, which will contribute the genre's most technical expertise, and a group of professionals in content, digital marketing, streaming, and platform development, we have worked hard over the past few months to be able to present Purga, the first platform dedicated to horror fans. We want Purga to grow based on fans' content requests. “We're going to launch with a very curated, carefully thought-out lineup, and from there we'll grow the catalog and content according to requests and responses that come in through social media. Purga is a platform open to fans, who can count on our experience and relationships in the content market to secure the titles they ask for,” said Ariel Tobi, the project's lead.
Behind Purga is Snap Media. Snap is a company specialized in audiovisual content that produces and distributes content for major entertainment companies such as Televisa, Disney, Fox, and 50 other television channels, pay-TV channels, and digital platforms. Snap operates in the leading content markets of Europe, the United States, and Latin America. We maintain business relationships with more than 500 international content providers. This background is what guarantees Purga's content, and it is through this that Macabro's curation and fans' requests will be channeled.
