MACABRO CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AS THE LEADING FORCE IN HORROR CINEMA IN MEXICO AND LATIN AMERICA

Two and a half decades of promoting, disseminating, driving, and developing the culture of horror cinema have been reached
The Mexico City International Horror Film Festival MACABRO will take place from August 12 to 23 this year
For this significant celebration, top-level screenings and star guests will be announced

Mexico City.- From August 12 to 23 this year, at various venues across Mexico City, the 25th edition of the Mexico City International Horror Film Festival, MACABRO, will take place, bringing together, as it does every year, a wide selection of national and international feature films and short films, as well as science fiction, thriller, and fantasy offerings.

Founded in 2002, the Mexico City International Horror Film Festival began as a space dedicated to the exhibition, preservation, and promotion of independent horror cinema, and over more than two decades, the festival has evolved to the point of becoming a key platform for horror cinema, the fantastic genre, emerging talent, and horror audiovisual culture in all its forms.

Thus, for 25 years, MACABRO has driven the exhibition of contemporary and independent cinema, as well as the recovery of classics and cult works, positioning itself as a meeting point for creators, specialists, and audiences passionate about the genre. Over two and a half decades, MACABRO has been a fundamental piece in shaping new audiences, as well as in consolidating a space where film, literature, visual art, and other expressions linked to the fantastical imagery of horror converge.

The celebration of its 25th anniversary not only marks a milestone in its history, but also an opportunity to look toward the future of horror cinema, reaffirming its role as a platform for exhibition, reflection, and creation within the audiovisual industry.

More details about guests and special screenings will be announced soon, along with the full lineup of feature films, short films, releases, and special events for these first XXV years of celebrating horror and film culture.
